The Story

The Broadway 5050 was opened in 1935. It was opened by the Montanio Family who have been a part of the Alamo Heights area for generations. It was started as a ice cream parlor/speak easy bar and remained that for many years.

"The 50", as most people call it. has changed operators many times over the years and is currently owned by P.J. Gottsacker and his wife Nicole. They have owned and operated the 50 for the last 10 years. PJ & Nicole purchased the 50 from Don Lassiter after a fire that had the bar/restaurant closed for over 8 months.

The 50 is known for delicious cheeseburgers but also has many other hand crafted items. The Philly Cheesesteak has STEAK EZE flown in from Philadelphia and Leidenheimer Baking Company Po Boy Rolls from New Orleans. Just to name a few.

The Cuban sandwich has mojo brined pork that is cooked and shredded in house. There's a lot to eat, drink & see at The Broadway 5050. Come check us out!!!
